Bonanza Opal Mine is renowned for its bright fire opals. Since the early 1900s the mine has had a reputation for these brilliant, fiery precious gemstones the mine produces. You can dig your own opals amidst the rugged beauty of the Virgin Valley of northern Nevada. Opal digging is a great family event, or just for fun on your own. Besides opal digging, the mine is surrounded by rugged beauty, with plenty to do and explore for the outdoor enthusiast, rock hound, and adventurer. Bonanza Opal Mine is easy to find. There's free camping near the mione and a hotel less than 30 miles from Virgin Valley. |
| Fee Tailings Digging:
The mine opens May 20th and closes September 30th, 2010. The mine is
closed on Mondays. Our operating hours are from 8am to 4pm. The fee is
$60.00 per person/day. Children 12 and under are FREE with paid adult.
Rock Club members (with proof) receive a $10 discount. Reservations not
